A greaaaatt review by Jeannette VanKanegan from concertlivewire.com.
“Drink lots of water, it’s good for you.”
by Jeannette VanKaneganIf you watch American Idol religiously like I do, then you definitely know who David Archuleta is. If you don’t watch the show, then you will become familiar with him soon. The second runner up, of last years Idol contestants, should have a long singing career ahead of him. The 18 year old singer from Miami played for a sold out crowd at the House Of Blues on Sunday. The crowd was full of very friendly moms with a slew of very excited children in tow.
The concert started with Leslie Roy as the opening act. She did a very long set, that the children in the audience enjoyed, but bored the adults. Her pop sound was offset by her raspy voice that made her songs more edgy. Some negative comments that I heard from the adults in the crowd were “She smokes too much, and she’s so young.”
An excited David Archuleta came on stage with a gigantic grin on his face. He started with the velvety “Never Get The Chance Again.” His second song “Too Many Barriers” made the crowd scream every time he belted out a note. David seemed genuinely grateful to have the opportunity to perform for audiences every night. I lost track of how many times he said “This is awesome!” In his state of over-excitement he had one his band members take a picture of him with the screaming audience in the background.
He sang his current single “A Little Too Not Over You,” everyone sang along, including the adults. He then sat on a stool next to his guitar player and sang “Somebody Out There” his voice sounding more mature beyond his years. His falsetto voice rang beautifully throughout the theatre. His next song was making fun of how clumsy and dorky he can be, but as he said “It works for me.” After he sang the song “Waiting For Yesterday” he laughed a bashful laugh that even melted the adult’s hearts.
He sang a medley of songs from the ’90s to now, acting like the ’90s was so long ago. The medley included “Gotta Be” by Desiree, “Love Song” by Sara Barallis, and “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz. He put a little bit of his own spin on each number. The next song he sang was co- written by Kara Diguardio, the new judge on American Idol. It was performed with his piano player playing violin and singing the melodies. It was a very pretty song.
He gave the audience a special treat by singing an unreleased song called “Zero Gravity.” It was very different from his other songs, more of an electronic/rock feel. The fun in the house became magnified as he jumped around the stage wildly. He slowed things down a bit with “You Can” a very romantic ballad. Lisa Dalletezzee from Monoeville, Pa, flew in with her best girlfriend just to see the concert. She said that was “one of her favorite songs on his album.” His pitch perfect whole notes were beautiful.
He sang his first single “Crush” and everyone sang along. He briefly left the stage, but came back for his encore. He sat at the piano and sang his two favorite songs. The first was “10,000 miles” originally by Vanessa Carlton. David sang it like the song was meant for him. He ended with a tearful version of “Angels” originally by Robbie Williams. David put on an exciting, fun-filled show and judging by his enthusiastically warm performance has a bright tomorrow ahead of him.
Psst, Jeannette you got a few of the song names wrong… ;)

Ms. VanKanegan meant well. She probably never heard or saw his album. I’ve got a feeling that with a review like that, she might go out and get his album. She probably didn’t realize that the adults who were singing are the devoted fans who happened to bring their younger children along. Irregardless, I think she liked him. AWWWWW, who doesn’t??? Thanks for your nice words!

Since it’s the weekend, thank goodness, let’s all make a pledge to vote at XM and call as often as possible. If you have more than one phone line in your house, call from all lines. 1-866-553-2020. Vote every five minutes online. Don’t forget Disney and openhouseparty tomorrow. I still wish all the fansites would get together and have a national day to download ALTNOy. I still believe we could do 20,000 in 1-2 days if everyone across the USA that loved David worked together.

Thanks, Jeanette! Great review!
I believe everything said about David – he can really get a crowd going! I went crazy when he came out at the show I was at haha.
But, that was kind of a let-down for Lesley by adults. Couldn’t there be more positive things about her? haha. She did very well. I love her music. Obviously adults don’t like what we teens are into.
But, it’s good everyone still loves David as always! He’ll always be my favorite from American Idol. Season 8 doesn’t compare to last season.

Oh my gooness, I am going to Disney World for spring break, and I’ll get to go to the American Idol Experience! David has been there! I am so excited for that, because unfortunately, I haven’t had the chance to see David live or meet him or any of that. I might faint just thinking how David has stood in that very spot… ah.. :)

That’s a great review, and don’t think she has the album or has heard any song other than CRUSH.But hey, lots of song are listed by aka titles. Although being a reviewer she should have been exact; But she is so much nicer than that guy Petric who used a very derogatory term in reference to David James. Ugh!
Maria, I so agree with you. I know we’re in an economic downturn but I think that we could still do a push for both ALTNOY and CRUSH. The song are .99 each. So you give up a burger and fries, or a trip to the movies. This is for David James.
Chris must be at the concert tonight. But maybe we can get all the sites to post a push for Monday or Sunday. Before the new numbers come out.
And there’s something we should do for one of us as well.
And that People’s Choice Member Poll has David leading Carrie, let’s keep it that way. His lead is 43% to 38 for Carrie. Here is the direct link:

Please answer this question. When you gift songs from ITUNES does it count as a purchase when you hit the print gift option even if you don’t redeem the gift? I noticed on my ITUNES account that it shows that I purchased the gifts but they have not been redeemed yet. I just want to make sure that the purchases are counting toward David’s cummulative numbers. Thanks Melissa

Angels, we are doing an ARCHUSUPER JOB on that People’s Choice Member Poll. We have gotten David 10% ahead. The poll closes tomorrow I think. Remember you can vote every hour or so.
Also tonight is Open House Party night. so get your fingers ready. While David is in Phoenix Sweating, let’s sweat right along with him. Wohoo!
Now locally: For those of you in the tristate MD/VA/DC area, maybe lower PA as well… WIHT-FM Hot 99.5 DOES HAVE ALTNOY in their system. That means we have to request it.

nice review but yeah not really accurate song titles. but oh well, good enough.

Nice review but “never get the chance again” and “10,000 miles”????? lol Well, maybe she was in a hurry but since she genuinely appeared to like David we need to school her on his song titles, haha. It is just really awesome tho to read all the good reviews that David is receiving!
