The Irresistible Story Behind the Song: “Your Eyes Don’t Lie”

Have you read the story “A Little Too Not Over You” that was posted couple of days ago? Well, this is now the most awaited continuation of David-Christine’s love struggle. If you really want to relate here, please click here to read the ALTNOY story.

“Your Eyes Don’t Lie” is really a wonderful song!!! Whoever hears it and dislikes should see sooner their doctor – either of ears or mind! The song is very irresistible to hear. Although, it is just so sad to hear this song without any feeds on our eyes – it just still don’t have a music video. We all hope – I’m sure, that David can make a video for this but due to the rumor (or may be a fact now) of the new album ZERO GRAVITY and saving you or whatever name it has, plus the innumerable appearances, guestings and concert – it can be quite impossible for Archie to skip some of those activities and make some taping.

Although, we should understand him, that’s why I’d decided to choose this song for the series of Debut Songs, plus it really fits the David-Christine love story. I hope everyone will go to be enjoying it! I highly recommend you listen first to this song because it’s hard to understand if you’d not recognize the song.

PROLOGUE …

Gosh! Am I in heaven or what? Is it unrealistic to see these bright lights, clouds under my feet and angel-like sounds of trumpet and voices?

“Is anybody here?” David shouted wonderin’ where he is. “Please answer …”

“Daaa…vid,” an echo was vibe by David. He listens carefully thinking that he already heard that voice. “Do you want to know why I’m hard to forget? Or are you just a little too not over me?”

David is confused and seeking for answers; he thought deeply, first, why he’s here? Second, who is he with? He announced “Christine? Are you there?”

In a slap of a sudden, Christine appeared to his front in a perfect white gown, cotton-like texture.

“Are you surprised?” Christine is smiling at David holding his hands so tight. “This happening can best describe what is happiness to you, David. At first, you don’t mention any name, there is no happiness appearing in front of you. But then, when you already located what really makes you happy, it will probably come to your waaayyy…” Christine is fading, as well as the venue.

He woke up.

… Your Eyes Don’t Lie …

“Uggghh..!” David sits up from bed acting as if he is in a hurry to wake in a mare. “Oh just a dream, but what does it mean? Why Christine appeared in my dream of happiness? Whatever! What really matters is that I’m here in Utah and filling-up a new life.”

David is now in the process of moving on from the one year past of obstacles from their love game. Everything seems just not to be in favor for them. But what most matter is that they are both trying to do everything to weigh on the matter of forgive-and-forget. I hope they can!

David Archuleta is now a student at Utah’s Educational University at his 2^nd year to the course of Journalism. At Utah’s Educational University, he is the main vocalist of their official band. He enjoys this company and is helping him to be in touch of enjoyment. He is also working some part of his time at Daily Utah – a newspaper, in connection and enhancement to his course. Everything for David is on the starting line of enjoying life again.

Christine, on the other side, is forcing herself to move on. She is working at a radio station at New York known as the Blast Your Ears .909 radio station with her own session. Her icon name is Ms. DaLeta. It’s actual meaning is DAvid archuLETA but she hides its true meaning. Well, I don’t think Christine is going to move on by these conditions.

It is a 500 meter drive from his home to UEU. Although, before he gets the university’s vicinity, he first pushes his way to Carla’s home. Carla is David’s new girlfriend; during the past one year, he made a hard work to be Carla’s man. She is hands-down beautiful, with UEU’s current muse all-over the campus.

“David how’s morning?” Carla asks.

“Not that good Honey, but you made everything perfect – don’t worry.”

At their class, Professor Minute came late. Prof. Minute is their adviser at their major. At their class …

“Okay everybody, next week we’ll organize your first ever field-making-article at New York.”

David eyed his teacher and repeated in his mind: “New York … No way … New York … Oh no!” David raised his hand for a question. “Ah, sir, do we have an option to another place or city?”

“Mr. Archuleta … Perhaps you’re willing at the far Africa, perhaps?” They laughed.

“Or sir, whether or not to go, perhaps?”

“The next batch will be three years from now. Understood?”

“Fine, sir.” David is in no condition at all; dream at the morning and a week from now at New York, both at Christine’s memory!

Christine, now with a lot of time to her job, is at meeting with directors of their radio station.

Their head director – Mr. Kinger, distributed their works. “Micheal, conduct the Chicago Institute, Norraine at Los Angeles Light University and … Christine at Utha’s Educational University. Any clarifications?”

On Christine’s mind, she’s balancing the task: “Utah … No way … Utah … Oh no!” Christine raised her left hand. “Ah, sir, do we have an option to another university?”

“Ms. Christine … Perhaps you’re willing at some special children’s cases, perhaps?”

“Or sir, whether or not to go, perhaps?”

“Unless you want to be vacant for one year with no salalry. Understood?”

“Yes, sir.” Christine is thinking that Utah have no less than 10 universities; what a coincidence if out of those ten, the UEU is David’s university as well. “Think positive, Christine.”

2 days away from UEU to come over the Blast Your Ears .909 to take some interview and surveys, Maybeline’s father died – the only left relative she had, from a lung cancer. Their group of friends exchanged messages with what tome to go for some support to their friend. David, at time he received the news, hurried as soon as possible to New York but Carla don’t want David to go without her, so, they both absented for a day and want to the secret-group-room at time set by everyone.

Christine is there since she only have a little drive from their building. Everyone is there exchanging some chats and comments to Maybeline’s current problem.

In that day, David can’t help but take a glance at Christine. She’s still as beautiful as the day we introduced ourselves. Her eyes, lips, skin, everything reminds me of everything that have done and past. In Christine’s mind, she wants a little talk to him but no, she can’t handle that with his “new” girlfriend. She is jealous; evern she either admit or hide – deep inside she want David back to her. She can’t really control her temper when she’s looking at the couple holding hands, whispering to each other, laughing. She dream of kissing David in front of that woman and do something rebellious and scandalous but she want it in manner.

Christine did not control her temper, she shouted as if someone should be alarm … “So David, can you introduce that lady to us?” Everyone looked at Christine thinking to bring her out or bring David out. For the first time in the past one year, they stared at each other as if they want to shout something inside their heart.

“Oh, I’m sorry everyone,” David breaking the silence. “She is Carla, my girlfriend. Any problem, Christine?”

“Nothing, at least we know.”

The rest of the night is calm until Maybeline came. Intrigues flash and questions flood to her.

David went out to the terrace for some air, Christine followed.

“So, is she the one you’d replace me? I don’t think she’s sufficient.” Christine proud.

“What now, Christine? You want argue again and again? No, she’s your replacement because she’s an angel but you … think of who you are.”

“oh yeah, well you just proved you deserve a break!”

Christine walked out.

Maybeline walk around David as intrigues calm down to zero.

“David, are you okay?” Maybeline asked.

“Of course, are you?”

“No I’m not. Is Christine still angry with you? I saw you two talked here.”

“Yes.”

“I’m sorry. But as far as I know she’s now moving on with … what’s the name … Rocky?”

“Oh, Rocky, yes.”

Everyone now went back to their respective homes. Christine and David can’t sleep and think of nothing but their confrontation.

The day for Utah’s Educational University’s journalism students to go to the Blast Your Ears station has come . Micheal, Norraine and Christine now ready to welcome students. Until Mr. Kinger – head director, called Christine for an emergency, Miranda – their friend, called and told that Maybeline collapsed during the burial process and Christine is in need because Maybeline has no relatives around. Christine checked-out with their head’s permission. UEU came with their conductor Michelle – substitute for Christine.

And so everything went smooth.

David received the emergency alert message that Maybeline was rushed to the hospital. He rushed too, to the St. Dominic International Hospital. In the hospital, David asked the nurse in-charge and told him that Maybeline is now stable. He went to room 504, as where she is resting and found Christine as well. David sat in silence inside the room with Maybeline sleeping and Christine at side of bed.

Silence. Yes. Silence

David can’t resist. He whistles just for entertainment to himself. The tune is high with some low pitches at some edges, fading slowly … then loud again with high pitch then low pitch with some fades. He repeats and repeats the whistle until Christine broke the silence.

“David …” With breaks at edge of her voice. “Ahm … I just want to take advantage to this situation…” the aura is very calm.

“Can I speak first?” David said and they are just one sit apart now. “I saw you yesterday, it’s been a while, I know, you traveled fair at holding back your smile, right then … it’s not over yet.” There’s a response of smile at Christine at the word “not over yet”. “I knew, but its for you.” She frown again at “for you”.

Christine interrupted, “You see?”

“I couldn’t sleep I thought of nothing else I needed help.” David now admitting his feelings. “Everyone is telling me you’re moving on with someone else, but what we had was so special … Some people can be jealous, I have to see it for my self.”

“David let me speak.” Both are now starting the intensity, incliding Maybeline who’s listening. “I know, I hurt you – I know you’re hurt still … hmm … yeah. But I’ll make it up to you, yes, baby I will, ‘cuz what we had was so special. You know we can’t give it all, now that I’m looking at you.”

“I can see …” David not able to finish.

“I can see it in your eyes,” Christine is full of emotions, hatred, and love –mix. “You feel the same about us as I, David.”

“There is no way…” David is still trying to be calm.

“The truth can be disguise! You can freely hide that!” Christine exclaimed. “Your still in love with me, you were never really out of love with me – YOUR EYES DON’T LIE, DAVID!!!”

Silence.

“Oh …” He is surely surprised how Christine told him he’s still in love with. “Now that I know, we will apart but your heart never let go. So … thank you for showing me with one look what’s used to be and still is the possibility.”

David now don’t want to shed any of his tears so, he decided to walk-out. He first make way to Maybeline and said … “Be strong. Never get discourage when things go down below your expectations, just always remember that the greatest glory of God is not winning but rising everytime you fall.”

He now opened the door. Christine starring straight out of his direction, said… “Your eyes don’t lie, David.”

He looked to Christine and said. “Yes you’re correct. And they never will, girl.” David sent out still whistling the same tune.

… EPILOGUE

David went back to Utah and is currently still studying. Carla interrogated him where he is the night before they came back to Utah and David never said something about the hospital-scene.

Christine cried after David walked out; thinking this will end to nothing, yield nothing. Although, she keeps thinking what David means by: “Yes you’re correct. And they never will, girl.” –she’s deciding whether or not he is still in love with her.

A week after, David composed a new song performed by him and his band in University entitled “Your Eyed Don’t Lie”. When Mr. Minute heard the song and found it very irresistible, he worked on releasing it to some radio stations and decided to work with their recent team station – Blast Your Ears .909 in New York since there’s too many listeners to that city.

When Christine heard the song, she said nothing or did nothing but a cry. In that instant, she checked out never getting any permission to Mr. Kinger.

She went directly to Utah’s Educational University.
