“You Astound, Confound, Bewilder and Delight!”

Ahh…I’m finally back after being gone for 5 days. Gotta love moving and losing internet service for 5 long days… hehe. I appreciate my ISP a whole lot more now. :D
Pictures are up from the Women’s Conference in Utah! Thanks to Pizac Photography, LLC for these beauties.
Want to save a few dollars to see David? Adam V., the marketing director at Pennsylvania’s Sherman Theatre emailed us to say that they’ll be discounting tickets $5-$20 off if you order through their box office!
Here’s a great review of David’s speech at the Utah Women’s Conference by the Deseret News!
David Archuleta had the jitters Monday as he took the microphone at the 25th annual Utah Women’s Conference — podium-clutching, leg-shaking, nervous-laugh-inducing jitters.
He would, he admitted several words into his first-ever keynote address, rather be singing.
“A David Archuleta speech for me is like an oxymoron,” said the Murray High School graduate, who got his start as a finalist on Fox’s “American Idol.” “I’ve never been good at speaking.”
Nonetheless, the 18-year-old pop star managed to enchant — however clumsily — the several hundred mostly middle-aged but still giddy-to-see-David-Archuleta-in-real-life conferencegoers.
A beautiful blog was written by John Chang of Archuleta Avenue Malaysia! Head over there and leave a comment. :)
Dear David
You astound, confound, bewilder and delight. Three parts man, two parts boy you’re like a riddle, a puzzle and an enigma all wrapped up in one glorious parcel with a bit of Rubik’s cube thrown in for good measure. You tweet about mountains, cats, neti pots and gold fish brains – what’s that about? You v-log from bathrooms and have helped us solve a universal mystery – brocolli or cauliflower. But the most wonderful truth about you is that even the sweetest sounding nightingale has nothing on you. You move us and touch that special place in our hearts with a beautiful, soulful sound that makes grown men and women weep tears of joy. Added to that is the wisdom, self-awareness and common sense that belie your tender age.
People may have sneered at your “Orchid” demeanour but in fact you’re the real radical and original as you steadfastly refuse to fall in among the troops. You march to your own tune no matter that it’s often dismissed as old fashioned and out of step with the times. Like water which always finds its own level you’ve found your base from which you’ll still evolve and change but the foundation from which all your future maturation and growth springs will remain unmistakably David Archuleta – unassuming, unpretentious and charismatic. The force of your personality is like a slow, rising tsunami. It may not have the aggressive impact nor the flashy spectacle of a wave crashing upon the rocks but the inexorable power to move and inspire is more cogent and in fact achieves a far more profound effect than any ordinary wave.
For one who’s never been a father, it sure feels like I’m writing this to a son and like the song says I wish that this life gives you all that you seek. When the world outside is cold and cynical show them the warmth of your smile and when you find that doors are being closed upon you, I hope you’ll always find an open window. Know that just as you have tried to take all of us into your heart we have definitely found a place in our hearts for you.
- John

Nice photos from the Women’s Conference. I always liked Roger Williams piano music. Glad to see that David met him. I’m sure he liked his piano music, too. I wonder if he met Laura Bush. I didn’t see a photo of them together. Maybe David left befor she spoke. He sure has met a lot of prominent people in his young life. His journal must be really interesting to read on a daily basis. You go David!

John, what a perfect, poetic way to describe what we all love about David Archuleta! My favorite passage, “The force of your personality… may not have the aggressive impact…of a wave crashing upon the rocks but the inexorable power to move and inspire…(and)achieves a far more profound effect than any ordinary wave.”
All is so beatifully stated. Thanks for sharing.

john, thank you for putting into words what I fell in my heart for David. I admire David for all the things he does. Even his smile makes me want to be a better person.

John Chang of Archuleta Avenue Malaysia, you astound me with your beautiful words about our dear heart, David. Your words have captured and described David quite beatifully and are the essence of David James Archuleta. I hope David gets to see what you have written, maybe then he will know how we all feel about his gentle and profound spirit. Very nice words John. Thank you for expressing them for us.
