David Archuleta talks about his album, prom, politics, phobias, college, Jordin, Cook, etc…
WOW the life of this 17 year old is anything but typical. And when you have tons of questions coming at you, it only shows how popular you are.
In his latest interview, David Archuleta talked with Ashley Iasimone of PopEater. Here is what she compiled:
‘American Idol’ runner-up David Archuleta has been an awfully busy guy. Fresh off the ‘Idol’ tour, the 17-year-old singer has released his first single and video (’Crush’), filmed a guest spot on the television show ‘iCarly’ and got the golden ticket of an invite to Miley Cyrus’ recent Disneyland Sweet 16. As if that weren’t enough, Archuleta is putting the final touches on his debut album. Archuleta took a break from recording to talk to PopEater about his career plans, Clay Aiken, crazy fans and more.
Many ‘American Idol’ alums have gone on to have bountiful careers. Is there one in particular you aspire to have?
Jordin [Sparks] — her being my age — I really look up to her. I think her journey’s been the most similar to mine. She’s an amazing singer, and her style … she understood that she was young and didn’t have to run with a certain type of music so quickly. She allowed herself to have some space, some growing. That’s really cool of her.

I read that article and was amazed at how mature david is.David is so wise,beyond his age.his parents did an excellent job.
Someone who thinks of responsibility at 17 will go on to do great things.i mean how many young stars out there have messed their lives cos they failed to think of ‘responsibilty’. I’m glad he realised that one can never please everyone.as for the cook’s matter.i get the vibe that our david praises cook more.remember david is not a competitive person.i mean he said cook liked crush but he loves ‘light on’. i love cook too and his music cos i love ROCK music[though as someone into music i hate the way he shouts while trying to hit his high notes].sometimes i wonder if it was david won, will cook have been that gracious in defeat? anyway i don’t want to talk about cook least i offend his fans.
The interviewer really researched on david to have asked him such excellent questions that got david to show his great personality.not the dumb silly questions about his dad that every reporter/dj has been dishing out to him.When asked about real life crushes;the interviewer allowed him to really air his view.i’m curious about the people[girls] he will definately will want to get to know better.
as for the polls? who really cares about polls.we have so many haters out there.any comment you dare to make about cook turns into a war.i’ve read hateful things about david that i have silently Prayed That GOD will vindicate him at his time.that GOD will show the world the Great Talent he has Blessed david with when he becomes so successful.
the crunch time is when the 2 album’s finally come out and the media starts to compare actual album sales.who sold more on day one,in one week and so on.who went gold and platinum first.we must be ready for that battle cos we are definately going to be forced into it.
I read some comments people wrote bashing david that his fans have left him high and dry thats why he has slumped down the billbord charts instead of going up.i feel the billboard charts and any other charts out there used to find out when an artist goes Gold or Platinum is what counts.or the one’s that help an artist get more airplay.
Anyway i rest my case.David is the best.he is loved by his fans;that what counts.

The bashers should be asking what has happened to Cook’s huge fanbase. David’s first single sold more than 160,000 copies in the first week after release. Cook’s single sold something like 110,000 copies.
Crush sold almost 70,000 copies last week. The current total is over 630,000 copies. Cook’s single is currently falling down the charts after the first week, so it seems that Crush will sell more in its ninth week than Light On in its second week. I wish Cook every success, but I hate all misinformation going round.

that was a great interview and David handled it well as usually, he is so mature and smart for a 17 year old going on 18 in December. I wanted to vote but I clicked it on and all I got was the interview. I think the haters are out in droves now that cooks single is not doing as well as David’s crush which on itunes david is number 15 and cooks is number 30. And davids video is number 10 lets get him higher by buying again. crush is definitly a hit single! David.

Hey Merlin, I hope you see this post. I voted in that poll a few minutes ago and he is way over – in a good way of course – I guess that when that poll came out the “others” where the first people voting but you and all of us know that David has millions of people who love him and it will always be that way. No worries. He is just amazing guy, so responsable, polite and humble and so talented that with or without polls he is always in our hearts. LOVE YOU KID.
well cook fans can be happy his debut on billboard HOT 100 on his first week was 17 as a new song while Crush dropped from 20 to 25 this week after 8 weeks on.
i think Crush air play dropped for it to drop from 20 to 25.
For Pop 100 Airplay it moved just one spot form 19 to 18 after 10 weeks on.
For Pop 100.crush is still on 17 after 10 weeks on.
For Hot Digital.guess what cook’s ‘light on’ is 8 on it’s first week on billboard while crush dropped from 12 to 16!! after 8 weeks,not good.
this shows that generally the airplay for Crush has really really dropped and the sales too.i hope david’s new manangement team will push Crush cos frankly 19 weren’t doing anything as they were the one’s to ensure that crush gets good airplay and increases in sales through an agressive marketing.his official website is not even out and the album drop is around the corner.

lets to feel that because crush is up against established stars who have been there that we should relent.In life records are meant to broken and minnows are meant to upstage the bigger guns.we can’t because of this allow crush to drop in sales and airplay.the market is fierce and aggressive and we must be the same too.crush must peak well as the album is dropping so that crush will help build sales for the album while the album will help build momentum for Crush.

Crush debuted at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and broke several records with this placement.
Crush debuted at #1 on the Hot Digital Tracks chart.
Cook’s numbers were #17 and #8.
So, let’s not forget that Crush is doing excellently. Cook was supposed to outsell Archuleta, but he hasn’t. Light On is falling down the iTunes charts in its second week. Crush is #15 and Light On is #35 now.

Awesome! Thanks for the update. I was just wondering about the same things and here you are updating us on it.
I’m so glad Crush is doing so well. David needs that to prove the naysayers wrong. David Cook probably may not need as much of that as our David cuz he won and therefore he has more fans that will love him no matter what. But our David needs both fans and non-fans to buy his album to make it platinum or multi-platinum.

David is doing just fine. This interview was great. He was able to finish his sentences. There were no stupid questions, and it was done tastefully. David could never disappoint anyone, especially his fans. We love him unconditionally and will have his back no matter what. Forget the polls and negative people and comments. There is no need for the Archuleta and Cook square off to continue. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and who they like musically, but no one should bash anyone for supporting who they like. Our David’s singing and personality shines through. He is a STAR and will remain one no matter what negative people think. David you are awesome. Never change.
